Spillman Public Library 2009 Children’s Summer Reading and Craft Program (6 weeks)

Come and join the fun this summer!

Summer Reading Program begins the week of June 15, 2009.
Come in, register, and start reading!

Elementary Age (K-Grade 5)
Craft Hour
Wednesday or Friday from 1 - 2 p.m.
Registration is required, 929-3771.
Note: Please register at 929-3771 for all Elementary Age craft hours.
These programs are free, but due to limited space, those wishing to attend must register.

Preschool (Ages 2-5)
Story Time
Friday from 10 - 10:30 a.m.
No registration is required.

Family Night (All ages)
Story Time
Thursday from 6:30 - 7 p.m.
No registration required.

Bill Kehl: "Earth, Music... Magic!"
"Earth, Music... Magic!" is an animated, fun-filled and dynamic musical experience designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages. Educational, energizing, and entertaining, "Earth, Music... Magic!" features an exciting collection and demonstration of unique and unusual primitive instruments from all over the world. No registration necessary.

Jeff McMullen will entertain with an array of variety arts: Magic, juggling, physical comedy, storytelling, mime, plate-spinning and balloons. Using audience participation, JB juggles things you never thought possible, makes things vanish at
will and performs many other magical feats to tickle your funny bone.
No registration necessary.

Friday, July 31, 2009 from 1-2:15 p.m.
Creative Carnival!
Join the fun as we celebrate the end of our Summer Reading Program with carnival games, prizes and a light snack. “The Balloon Kid” Stacey Schmude will work her balloon magic and turn balloons into animals of all shapes, sizes and colors. Our Winnefox mascot, Winnie the Fox, will make a special guest appearance.

The Carnival is open to all ages (preschool age children must be accompanied by an adult).

Contests with Cool Prizes:

• Weekly Guessing Jar
• Trashtown: Design a creative village scene using your recyclables, such as cereal boxes, egg cartons, milk caps, etc. There are limitless possibilities!
• “Be Creative While Reading” Photo Contest: Take a photo of yourself reading in a creative way, such as in a character costume, or an inventive setting.
