Title: Library Director

Reports to: Seven (7) member library board, appointed by Village Board President

Overview: The Spillman Public Library board in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin seeks candidates for the professional position of library director. The ideal candidate will have prior management experience, dynamic interpersonal and communications skills, knowledge of total library operations including budgeting, grant writing, collection development, library technology, personnel and property management, and the ability to motivate and inspire staff.

North Fond du Lac’s current population is 4,980. The 2008 operating budget is $165,000. Circulation for 2007 was 47,700. Member of Winnefox Library System.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Overall administration of the library.
• Managing and supervising two part-time employees.
• Preparing the annual budget and administering financial resources.
• Selecting material and managing the collection.
• Long-range planning, programming, outreach, and community relations.
• Seeking grant and donation opportunities.
• Attending library-related meetings as required.
• Directing and coordinating library services and functions
• Managing facility maintenance
• Representing the interests of the library before government and various organizations.
• Maintaining professional credentials and pursuing continuing education opportunities.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and be eligible for Grade 2 Wisconsin public library certificate. Certification must be completed within four (4) years of hire. Preference will be given to candidates with previous library experience.

Salary and Benefits: This is an excellent career opportunity. Hours 35-40 per week. Salary range $38,000 - $44,000, based on qualifications. Full benefit package included. The Village of North Fond du Lac is an equal opportunity employer.
